This is so true. I know it’s a silly meme, but if you can’t stand against government’s ongoing inhibition of rights…if you are defending the expansion and centralization of power—you are the Tory. You are the British loyalist in colonial America.
You are supporting precisely what the American patriots revolted against, then codified in the Constitution to fundamentally limit government’s impact on our lives.
And BTW, the modern “progressive” is in the same boat, desirous of building a foundation on the subjugation of rights. Predicating an entire belief system on ideas that decimate prosperity by destroying opportunity and mobility for the very people they intend to help.
Trump supporters and progressives (though rhetoric is different) have fully intersected at the point of advocating for unlimited state power to accomplish their respective goals.
